The food was top notch. Perfectly cooked and exquisitely presented. The flavours of the food and the pairings of the wines were divine! We sat outside on the terrace under an enormous canopy and even on a hot day we were perfectly comfortable as we enjoyed our lunch overlooking the vineyards. The service was attentive and relaxed. Having been to Napa Valley and Tuscany, I am happy to say that this spot holds its own. Highly recommended for an intimate meal, a meal with friends, or for a small celebration ie., shower, wedding, promotion celebration etc.
We went to Hillebrand on a VERY snowy Sunday for brunch, looking for something nice in St Catharines (where nothing seems to be open on Sundays for lunch!). From the moment we came in out of the blizzard it was nothing short of an absolute pleasure. They have a prix fixe menu for brunch on Sundays for 44.95, not bad for the amazing food which followed! My scallops were seared perfectly, sweet, fresh and delicious sitting on a crunchy mustardy coleslaw. The sliders were moist and perfectly flavoured with a rich blue cheese on top. The buns were perfect, not too soft and not too hard, and the rosemary in them perfectly complemented the beef and the blue cheese. The cheese platter was delicious, an aged cheddar and something like a cambazola with potato crackers, poached pears, candied pecans and some delicious ice cream. My only critique was that nobody told me what the cheeses were and it didn't come with a knife to spread my cheese on the crackers. The Brut was crisp and flavourful and I REALLY enjoyed the Trius white (will be buying this for my next special occasion). Overall one of my top meals of all time. Thank you Hillebrand!
Pros: Food excellent. Wine, good (but see below). Service friendly and good (but see below). Cons: We waited for what seemed an eternity. Getting more and more tired, the wine almost finished, our appetites waning; we were just about to leave without eating when our entree at last arrived. Wine is significantly overpriced when compared with good European/Australian wines in other restaurants. A rip-off.
The food was not only excellent but so beautifully presented it was almost a shame to spoil the presentation by eating it! Lovely service, nice help with selecting the right wine to complement the meal. Overall we loved the entire experience.
I'm extremely pleased with their service. Food was exceptional. I espeically liked the appetizer and dessert. Pheasant was ok. I mean, in general pheasant is less dry than chicken. However slight complain on the beef wellington. They pan-fried a very thick piece of rib-eye and cut it in the middle so it looked like 2 pieces of steak. Even though the inside was beautiful, the crust was overcooked and burnt.
The food was amazing and the wine was well paired and quite good. Very satisfying meal.
I have dined the world over and this was the best lunch I can ever remember having. Chef DeLuca is a master of his art.
WOW! The food is excellent. Yes, it's very expensive, but worth it once you take your first bite. Service was excellent, perhaps a bit understaffed on this particular night. If you have a sweet tooth, you must order the dessert platter. Kudos to the pastry chef. The cinnamon raisin ice cream and pastry shell were excellent. This goes down as one of the top 10 memorable meals of my lifetime. Only complaint is that their espresso machine was broken and therefore had to order only "regular" coffee.
Food and service excellent...but...Take your your flyswatter with you!!!! You burn up more calories chasing the flies off your food than you consume. (disgusting and unsanitary!!) We were celebrating a birthday as were a table of 6 near us and we were all complaining about the flies.... A Restaurant of this assumed calibre should not have 2 empty "cardboard boxes" of tissues sitting on the counter in the rest room, and only the noisy air blowers to dry your hands on!!! Where are some nice folded paper towels, (at the very least) to be used by your valued patrons? The food and service rendered were difficult to remember because of these shortcomings which could so easily be corrected.
Our party enjoyed their meal very much. Service was attentive and waiter was knowledgeable. A couple of disappointments - the tasting menu was "not available" the night we were there and my first wine choice was also not available.

Among the most well known of Niagara's wineries and vineyards, Trius Winery isn’t just good for a tasting. The restaurant is bright and airy in all the right ways, a perfect place to connect with the fam over a weekend away in the region. Ontario mushrooms mingle with ice-wine honey beets, artisan Canadian cheese, Lake Erie fish, and locally sourced duck. You may have tasted the Trius varietals at the LCBO, but there’s a ton more on offer at the winery proper. Be sure to indulge in a flight – you won’t regret it.
