Kiana Estmond, director of Sandbox Studios, has a motto for the artists who come through her doors to record their songs: art is knowing which mistakes to keep. You could say that the entire premise of Kiana’s studio is based on taking calculated risks and seeing where they lead. For one thing, Sandbox Studios is one of the only facilities in Toronto that specialises in R&B, rap and gospel.
“There are a lot of rock and indie studios here, but little for what we do. We don’t work with these styles exclusively, but our engineers do have a lot of experience working with R&B and gospel singers so they can produce a top-rate recording for them,” explains Kiana.
