For many of us, Labour Day marks the end of summer and the beginning of autumn. It could even start snowing and we wouldn't be surprised (sorta). Be that as it may, there are still a few weeks before autumn sets in. So let's chase those sad thoughts away with 10 tips to make the most of September .
Fifty years ago, Montreal announced itself to the world with the 1967 Universal Exhibition, an event that brought the city global recognition...and provided Montrealers with the opportunity to learn about other cultures and culinary arts. Head to the McCord Museum to take in the Mode Expo 67 exhibition, dedicated to the Canadian fashion of that era, including more than 60 uniforms worn by the hostesses of various flags. You'll also see photos, archive videos and sketches.
From September 18 to 30, you can also visit the Quartier des Spectacles for Expo 67 Live, an event featuring archival documents presented on giant screens . It's a "real journey through time; unique and innovative". Admission is free and four showings will be presented each evening.
Celebrate the arts at the POP Montreal Music Festival, from September 13 to 17. In its 16th year, this event opens the stage to emerging artists will keep you entertained over five days dedicated to music and the arts. On the programme: more than 450 groups and artists from Montreal and abroad!
Quebec comic book magazine PLANCHES and the Montreal Comic Arts Festival have joined forces to create the project Streets of Montreal - urban stories through comic art. No fewer than 13 Montreal cartoonists are offering 13 unpublished stories featuring 13 famous and lesser-known locations in the city. The first pages of the book are displayed on giant billboards, so get yourself down to the Baldwin, Little Italy and Molson parks to check them out.
You can also do a mini urban comic tour (lasting about 60 minutes) with Paul à Montreal. This narrative and interactive trail of a dozen giant panels winds about the Plateau Mont-Royal.
For its sixth year running, the vibrant Mont-Royal Avenue is hosting Avenue Gourmande this September 16 and 17, with a full weekend dedicated to the discovery of flavour. Experience the delicacies of local and artisanal boutiques, delicatessens, cafés and restaurants. What’s more, eight restaurants will be offering a fixed price special menu for the occasion; that includes Roméo, Pintxo, Soupesoup, Pizzédélic, Chez Victoire, Les Héritiers, Aux Îles à sucre, and Boswell Brasserie artisanale.
Omnivore are lovers of local produce, so it's no wonder they offer culinary demonstrations at SAT. For this 6th annual event on September 23 and 24, the focus is on 100 per cent local produce. Featuring food world figures John Winter Russell (Candide), Adrien Renaud (Food Lab), Nick Kemball (Libertine Bakehouse), Marc-Olivier Frappier (Vin Papillon) and many others. Sign up now!

Save the date right now for the first Friday of October (the 6th) to experiencethis year’s last gathering of the 40 or so street food trucks on the Sun Life Financial Esplanade at The Olympic Park.
