Extra storage space is pointless if it's disorganized. With some prep work andthe right tools, it's a breeze tomaximize every corner of your storage space.
Althoughhardware stores or big box stores can provide you with the necessary basics to help efficiently fill your storage space, you may to need to shop around. Storage companies and warehouses sell special storage equipment and offer discounts, promotions, and packages.
You'll find, among other things:
- Different-size boxes to properly store all of your belongings including glassware, lamps, dishes, sporting goods and clothing (wardrobe boxes).
- Boxes varying in size between one and six cubic feet.
- Archive boxes in both letter and legal format, with handles for easy carrying of your important documents.
- Protective covers for mattresses, clothing, furniture and appliances, as well as storage blankets. For clothing, vacuum-sealed storage bags are a real space-saver.
- All the necessary packing materials, including bubble wrap, packing shells, wrapping paper, tissue paper and corrugated cardboard.
The necessary extras
You can buy these little "extras" almost anywhere, but know that warehouse storage companies also sell:
- Moving labels for boxes (fragile, heavy)
- Cellulose tape and dispensers
- Markers
- Knives
- Rollers

Package deals through a storage facility are customized according to the number of rooms you need to store. They include a set of boxes of different sizes, as well as extras for safe handling.

Equipment and tools for filling the unit
- Do not forget about bungee cords and lifting straps for heavier furniture.

Checklist
- For an entire house, plan for between $200 and $300 worth of packing materials (60-115 boxes).
