I just love this place. They just don't make them like this any more. Even the menu is old school. Start out with a bourbon sour and order the perch dinner. You get a huge mound of perch! The service is a little weird some nights.
My wife and I were in Hamilton for the weekend. We decided to go to Innsville Hotel/Restaurant for dinner. We were greeted by the manager, I believe his name was Neil and quickly and professionally shown to our table. The decor was retro which we enjoyed a lot being zoomers and all and soon our waitress Stephanie came and I'm telling you I wish ALL waitreesses and waiters were this friendly and professional. We ordered ceasar salad, beef ribs, french onion soup, calamari, rack of lamb. OMG! The food was fantastic!!! The meat fell off the bones. We drink water and our water glasses were never empty, that's how attentive the staff was on a whole. Now as for Stephanie I can't praise that young lady enough. So professional, so friendly and the kitchen staff, the food in my opinion was beyond exceptional. If you ever go thru Stoney Creek - Hamilton drop in and enjoy a dinner at Innsville Restaurant.
I had the best Prime Rib I ever had on Saturday evening. Will deffinately by back! Friendly staff and cozy attmosphere. Wish I had room for the home made pie...
I have to say my last two visits to the Innsville were a disappointment. This is where I used to go for a great steak dinner, "retro" atmosphere and excellent service. Well, 2 out of 3 ain't bad, but only when one of those two is the food. I have to agree with other reviewers that commented on the steaks. In a word: terrible. I have to assume that someone new has taken over the kitchen and they probably came from a "greasy spoon"-type restaurant where the clientelle were not hard to please as long as the food was hot and not moving (or moo-ving. sorry. terrible pun). In any case, if I come up disappointed on my next visit, I shall be forced to cross this restaurant off of my list of places to go for a great evening and meal. Service and atmosphere just can't cut it without great food.
For the last 2 years our small group from church have gone to the Innsville for our Christmas social evening - and 2 years in a row I haven't been impressed. The decor is cozy but simple - it is what it is, I won't fault them for that. For the age of their servers, I expect much better. Their knowledge of the menu was nothing beyond what was already written down. The food was the biggest disapointment, especially in light of the price. I love a good steak - and I did not get a good steak - charred on the outside and very rare on the inside - not medium rare at all. And for the price we are asked to pay, I expect more than out of the freezer pale steamed vegetables and what tasted like instant mashed potatoes. 3 people in our party didn't finish their meals. My wife remarked that she'd eaten better chicken parmagean in her university cafeteria... and I know what she thought of that food. Also, as we were leaving I received a vicious glare and sarcastic throat-clear from another server as I clipped our 4 month old daughter into her carrier. Rest assured, she won't have to worry about us inconveniencing her again in the future - no doubt about that!
