One of the most memorable things about #Hashtag Gallery is its name.
There are many reasons why co-owners Johnny Hollick and Graeme Luey chose to incorporate this “ubiquitous” social media term into their gallery name. “It’s a call sign for the times; there’s nothing more of the moment than hashtags,” Johnny explains. Art is seen in the same way as it’s subject to change -- one day it can be beautiful, the next day it might not be.
In addition, the term’s reference to the online world is reflective of a social desire to connect virtually in a space that brings everyone together. “What better way to represent the moment than a hashtag,” Johnny adds.
