Dita Dolejsova’s Sherbrooke Street West pilates studio sits across the street from a leafy green park. She liked the bright, airy feel of the space, which instantly feels comfortable to visitors.
As a fitness instructor and personal trainer, Dita began teaching pilates in 1997 when she started to notice the growing popularity of pilates classes. And since “every good instructor follows the trends in the industry” she began obtaining instructor certification, eventually attaining seventh level Stott Pilates training. Soon, she was teaching only pilates classes, building up a loyal clientele that followed her to her home studio. Equipped with three reformer machines, the demand for her expertise quickly grew. She took business courses and hired a business manager to help her and, with that aspect and in March of 2011 opened her studio, Dita Pilates, on Sherbrooke Street West in NDG, across the street from NDG Park.
Along with four other instructors, Dita and her colleagues teach private and individual classes, from beginner to advanced levels, seven days a week. The studio offers both morning and evening classes, to accommodate their clients’ work schedules. Although most of her students are women, an increasing number of men have discovered pilates – particularly its flexibility and core training benefits. Among them are NHL players Dita trains during their off-season.
